Russell has over 35 years experience working with equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. Russell began his career as an apprentice Electrician with British Coal, working underground installing and maintaining Flameproof machinery used in Coal mines.
Russell then worked offshore in the North Sea on Jack-up drilling rigs. Working with ‘Ex’ equipment that is required in such a hazardous environment. Then Russell was then employed as an electrical foreman for a Chemical company who manufactured solvents. His role was to design, install and maintain all the electrical and instrumentation equipment used in this potentially explosive atmosphere.
Whilst on a Complex refresher course the opportunity to become an electrical instructor was taken and Russell joined The TTE Technical Training Group and played a leading role in developing TTE’s CompEX facilities in the UK and in Baku, Azerbaijan. Moreover Russell played a key role in the CompEX Governing Council.
During his career with TTE where he progressed to senior electrical trainer, Russell organised and taught CompEX and hazardous areas courses both in the UK and the Middle East, instructing in countries such as Azerbaijan, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Oman, Kuwait, and Qatar.
